An introduction to installing the RADiCAL Live plugin for Unreal Engine, which is required to send streamed data from website into Engine.
Supports Unreal Engine Versions: 5.1, 5.2, 5.3
Time to complete: 5 minutes.
Recording your motions within RADiCAL Live happens through the web browser. However, if you want to stream animation data into Unreal, within a new or existing project, use RADiCAL's proprietary plugin for Unreal.
Here I will show you how to download and install the plugin for use.
Important!
- You need to have a version of Unreal Engine installed on your machine, and have access to the Plugins Folder in the Engine Directory. This might require Administration rights.
- The Plugin is currently only compatible with Windows machines. Mac devices aren’t currently supported.
Before you start…
- You can integrate the Plugin with any existing, or new projects.
- This requires you to have a created account with Radical Motion, however you do NOT need to be apart of the paid Professional tier. You are able to do everything on a Free tier with some limitations in number of streams to integrated software.
To install the Plugin, download it from our website, https://radicalmotion.com/unreal.
Important!
It’s important to download the correct Plugin version for your correct Unreal Engine project. For example, if you are working in Unreal Engine 5.2, download and use the plugin for 5.2. Plugins are not backwards compatible, and will not load correctly.
They remain the same across versions, with a few minor changes to appropriately support each Unreal Engine Version. You won’t be feature locked-out if you are working on 5.2 against 5.3 and so on.
The RADiCAL Unreal Engine Plugin is known as an Engine Plugin: Simply, this is a Plugin which loads up each time the Engine is started, and you don’t have to install it each time in a new project.
With the Plugin downloaded, navigate over to the Engine directory, and locate the created Plugins Folder.
Drag the unzipped RADiCALLivePlugin and drop it into the folder.
