A Guide in understanding the Plugin’s interface, and which buttons do what.

Set up

This requires you to have a fully installed Plugin from RADiCAL. Please see our guide on downloading and installing your plugin for Blender if you haven’t already. ‣


Opening the Interface

The RADiCAL Live Interface can be located on the left edge of the Editor interface besides the 3D space Gizmo. It’s identified by a small arrow pointing left.

Alternatively, you can locate it by pressing the N key with the default Keyboard configuration.

Understanding Interface properties

The interface is simple, and blends in with Blender’s design language.

Top of the Interface:

Room ID: is where you will place your Room ID.

Account Key: is where you will place your Account Key.

Password: is where you will place your Room Password.

Websocket URL: is the check box and URL link if a Websocket is required. It should be set up by default, but if the space is empty, check the box, and place this in the URL: wss://live-room-handler.radicalmotion.com

Connect/Disconnect button: Toggleable button for populating the Player List box below.

Player List: Is when relevant Room ID’s and Account Key’s have

ID: The Player ID from RADiCAL Live.

Armature: The name of the Armature within the Scene.

Eyedropper tool: with pre-existing RADiCAL Rigs, use this to assign to a different Armature.

Bake checkbox: If the selected Player’s motions will be baked to the timeline once the Bake Animation button is pressed.

Filter Arrow: Filter tools for if you have multiple Players within the list.

Mesh checkbox: Toggle if you wish to bring in a physical mesh rigged to the Skeleton of your imported player.

Import Rig button: Of selected players, this brings the Rigs into the Editor.

Clear List: Clear’s the player list to make space for a new Room ID.

Bake Animation: Players with the Bake Animation checkbox ticked, the data of the Armature will be baked to the timeline.

Retarget: With multiple RADiCAL Armatures in the scene, use this retarget multiple RADiCAL Armatures to receive the same data source. Simply follow the instructions provided.

Important!

The Retarget operator within the Plugin works only with corresponding RADiCAL Armatures which have been imported via the Plugin.

It is not a Retargeting tool for multiple different Armatures within the scene.

Passwords?

Please note that for most instances this isn’t required, and will be set up in advanced if a Room Owner has opted for a Password for security/confidentiality reasons.

Always ask if there is a password requirement if you are connecting with an external source.

With the information in, you should receive a populated player list. If something is incorrect, you will receive a relevant error message and what to address.
